Worcestershire Presentation 2008/09

The Worcestershire Presentation of Leagues is held every year to bring together all the teams that have participated over the season and to celebrate the hard work and sweat whether win or lose. This year it was held at Barnt Green on the 3rd April, it was well supported with over 80 people representing a majority of the teams played in the four men’s division and one ladies division.
It was a good night to talk over a beer about all those wrong decisions that were made by yes us the greatest markers!!! It started off with a Balti of chicken and lamb, which was cooked by Banners Food, and our thanks go to them. Also thanks go to Norman Rosser president of Worcester squash and Zena Wooldridge chairperson of England squash and racket ball who also attended.
So after seconds and sometimes thirds (Keith Young) it was down to the presentations. First on the Board were our juniors, we have a vast amount of juniors of all ages and abilities from U11’s to U19’s both boys and girls, many of them attend the England squash Academy and play in the sanctioned events.
For a full list of junior awards please see our junior section of the web site, but the main junior award, which is the Brook Oldman Trophy, goes to Matt Jones for his hard work and dedication through out the season so well done Matt.
We also have a Captain/ Manager award this goes to the person who shows great enthusiasm in both coaching and running the junior teams this went to Paul Henegan, he runs the U17’s girls team. So onto the League and cup awards which are as follows:-

Now the silver ware has been handed over for another year it was time to wind down the evening and present the raffle prices. Its was pleasing to see that we raised over £117.00 which will be sending to Leukaemia Research in the memory of Paul Harrodine who we sadly lost earlier this year. In the past he had been a good supporter of junior squash and senior events in Worcestershire.
So to finish we like to thank Bett Dryhurst for the tremendous work that she has put into organising the evening, and also to the League Committee which includes Bett Dryhurst, Andy Wright, Clive Simmons for their work through out the season and let us not forget with out them there would be no Worcester League squash, and now its time to get training for the next season which starts in September 2009.
